Pear and Roquefort Tarte Tatin - French Main Dish

Ingredients

  • 1 piece Puff pastry (sheet)
  • 150 g Roquefort cheese
  • 3 piece Pear
    Alternative: Apple
  • 50 g Butter
    Alternative: Margarine
  • 80 g Sugar
  • 50 g Hazelnuts (chopped)
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. Melt butter in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add sugar and cook until caramelized.

  3. Peel, core, and quarter the pears. Arrange them in a circular pattern over the caramelized sugar.

  4. Crumble the Roquefort cheese over the pears. Sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts, salt, and pepper.

  5. Cover the pears and cheese with the puff pastry, tucking the edges down inside the skillet.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown.

  7. Let cool slightly, then invert the tarte Tatin onto a serving plate. Serve warm.
